Veneers and Laminates

Veneers or laminates are a layer of restoration placed over the front surface of the teeth, especially front teeth in order to improve the appearance of the teeth in the cases of

  • Discoloration of teeth
  • Teeth that are worn down
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Teeth with gaps in between them

Advantages :

  1. Natural tooth appearance is restored
  2. Minimal reduction of tooth structure is needed
  3. Alters the shape, size and shade of the teeth
  4. Useful in Digital smile designing

Limitations:

  1. Sensitivity to hot or cold
  2. Unable to eat from the front teeth where the restoration is placed
  3. Not suitable for patients with a habit of clenching or grinding as the restoration may crack

Types of Veneers:

       Composite Veneers

            - Advantage is that, several veneers can be placed in a single or multiple visits depending on the condition.

              - Is usually used to fill the cracks or chips

             - Less costly as compared to Porcelain Veneer

             - Easy to repair if needed

Porcelain Veneers

    - They preserve the bright, slightly translucent appearance of natural teeth

    - The high-quality ceramic (porcelain) reflects light like the natural teeth

    - They are stronger than the composite veneers and last longer

    - They do not stain over time
