Complete Dentures

1) IMMEDIATE DENTURES

- It is an interim denture that is used for a short interval of time until a more definitive prosthesis can be provided

- It is given when multiple extractions are planned. The back teeth are extracted first , measurements are taken and the denture is fabricated, followed by extraction of the front teeth.

- It is inserted into the patients mouth with the help of soft liners on the day of extraction of the front teeth

2) Tooth supported overdentures

It is a type of complete denture, in which few of teeth that is one on right & left side either in Upper or Lower arch are retained, root canal treated & cut them off at gum level by keeping only the root portion of the tooth in the gums. And dentures are fabricated over them.

It helps to

  1. Maintains the integrity of the ridge
  2. Improves retention and stability of the denture as support is derived from the natural teeth remaining in the mouth
  3. It can be converted into a normal complete denture if the supporting teeth have to be extracted in the future

3) Conventional Dentures

It is a denture that replaces natural teeth in the arch and their associated parts by artificial substitutes

It is fabricated 3-4 months after extraction of all the teeth if satisfactory healing is observed.
